Cobbs Hill Village
Phase 2 of the Cobbs Hill Village reconstruction is rushing towards completion this summer. In total, the project numbers 104 units across six buildings. Phase 2 comprises 46 units across a 40 unit apartment building and the first 6 townhouse garden units along with a new community center. With the completion of this phase, all 60 of the original residents will be in new units and the first new-to-the-complex residents will be accepted. The project is being held to a higher standard of affordability than required, which is laid out on the project’s website.
Designed by SWBR to minimize their impact on the surrounding park, the facades feature a mix of brick veneer and composite lap siding and paneling. Units all have private outdoor space in addition to the shared green-space around the complex. Pike has served as construction manager across both phases so far, with CPC providing the bulk of the construction financing.
The forthcoming Phase 3 will include the demolition of the remaining original units from 1957 and the construction of the last 18 townhouse units.
Layers of the Cobbs Hill Village project. The completed Phase 1 is in the foreground, with the community center, apartment building 2, and townhouse units of Phase 2 beyond. The original, low-slung bungalow townhouses can be seen back right. These will be demolished for Phase 3 once residents are moved into the new buildings.
